WCCFSC commissioned WUI-Go to offer an educational tool customized to some Richmond CA communities in 94803. Enter address, and it will demonstrate the various factors that will come into play when you evacuate in response to approaching embers. If you live in neighborhoods May Valley, El Sobrante Hills, Greenbriar, Castro Heights, Carriage Hills N and S, Hilltop Green this is for you! https://www.wuigo.ai/podcasts/may_valley (Note for nearby neighbors: enter your address, and the tool will start using the nearest intersection within the neighborhoods listed above.)
This education tool, because it’s so localized, shows a close-to-real-life scenario, with potential evacuation routes, traffic conditions, impact of population density, and more. It now offers a report at the end of the WUI-Cast, as well as helping you to quickly sign up for alerts (CWS and Nixle), find your evacuation zone, etc., if you haven’t yet taken those steps (but those links will take you there now!).
We commissioned this for May 2026 Wildfire Preparedness month, and for the Richmond Evacuation Practice Drill supported by Richmond Office of Emergency Services and Fire Department, and WCCFSC, with collaboration of Contra Costa Office of Emergency Services, CERT and Richmond Youth Academy volunteers.
